The First Annual Troy Terawaki Video Game Tourney and Worship Rally

What a fun night this was!! It started off with a great video game tourney, which saw the XBOX go to Edgar from Glendale Baptist after a back-and-forth championship game of Wii bowling. Then, we were blessed by the music from the guys from the TNL band, who really rocked the house for us. Hopefully, you can see from this photo that a great time was had by all!! Can't wait to do this again!!

And now... the story behind the reason why we wanted to do this event....
Troy has been a member of church here in Beltsville for a many years, and was a very active member of our youth group here since he entered the 7th grade, and was active member of our College and Career class. In 2006, while he was in Japan on a student exchange trip, he was told that he had cancer. Troy began his 3 year long “journey” to fight this disease until God called in home until April of last year. Now you may have heard a lot of heartwarming stories about how folks have fought this disease, but Troy you need to know how unique Troy truly is. Troy carried himself with an exceptional level of faith and courage, and not only held tight to his faith during his “journey”, but used his experiences as a vehicle to share his faith in God with others. Even as Troy’s time here on earth grew short, he never turned his back on his Lord, and he was determined to fight this disease and glorify God every step of the way. Those who got to share a part of this “journey” with Troy were truly blessed and encouraged by his faith and strength. I cannot wait until we have the chance to share more of his story with you!!
In order to get that chance to share Troy’s wonderful story with other folks, our church wanted to do something really cool to honor his memory because of how much he meant to us. We also knew that in order to truly honor him, we needed to do something fun, it should be something that would be an outreach to other, and we have to worship the God he loved so much!! So, thru a bunch of prayer, God has led us to the following event announcement, and I ask that you prayerfully consider making your group a part of it…
The FBC Beltsville Youth and College and Career Ministries would like to invite you to join us for the first annual Troy Terawaki Video Game Tournament and Worship Rally!! The Tournament and Worship Rally will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at FBC Beltsville, and will be a night of food, fun, and fellowship!! The massive video game tournament will be for age groups ranging from 7-12th grade and college divisions, with prizes to be awarded at the end for Division Winners, as well as Overall Best Group. We will be following up the tournament with a great worship rally, with the music lead by the TNL Praise Band (http://www.tnlpraiseband.com). Should be a great night of fun for our kids and those that are kids at heart!
